The most versatile of all the fruit powders, Orange Citrus Powder has a vast number of uses spanning across the board, from many food applications to beauty and even cleaning products! Orange Powder can be quite exciting to work with.
A good rule of thumb, 1 tablespoon is equal to one medium orange and is an excellent source of vitamin C and high in antioxidants.

When moisture is an issue in recipes such as buttercream, fruit powders are perfect to achieve the same great taste and colour but your cream will hold a much better swirl.
Try this easy Orange Sauce, melt 1/4 butter in a saucepan then remove from the heat and stir in 1T cornflour, 1T orange powder and 1/2 cup orange juice, put back over medium heat stirring constantly until thickened then reduce to a low heat and simmer for 1 minute.
Infusions and Drinking
As well at tea, as we mentioned above, you can also infuse alcohol! This works well for white spirits such as vodka, gin, bicardi and Cinzano. In a glass bottle or jar with a lid add approximately 2 teaspoons of orange powder per cup of alcohol. Place the lid on tightly and give it a shake once a day for a week then strain and enjoy in your favorite cocktail.
Mix orange powder into your hot chocolate or coffee mix and for added flare sift some orange powder over the top of your drink.
Every now and then you may come across a recipe that calls for vitamin C powder or ascorbic acid, orange powder makes for a useful substitute for both of these.
Orange powder may also be used as a substitute for any other citrus in recipes.
Beauty & Cleaning Products
For those looking for chemical free solutions in their household citrus is perfect for cleaning and really good for your skin too.
For chemical free cleaning try adding a couple of tablespoons of orange powder to 500ml vinegar and leave in a cool dark place for two weeks, dilute with water by 50% and place liquid in a spray bottle for a lovely fragrant cleaner.
Add a tablespoon or two to oatmeal and baking soda for a relaxing bath powder or add to homemade bath bombs.
